Lunch over the City

Duncan stayed calm at upon learning that the Vengences communications were being intercepted. It was something they had thought was happening which was why they had asked Tod to further secure their systems. Unfortunately she hadn't been able to complete her assignment before her passing. And all though Unna was trying to easy Stephens mind. Duncan tool another approach. "Intercepting the communications of a Republic warship can be considered a capital offense Master Stephens, especially in these times." Duncan said playfully teasing the man. "However I can allay your fears. Those communications that have been intercepted weren't with terrorists, they were with a group of people that helped us when we first arrived here and were briefly held hostage by raiders. The communications was coordinating medical supply transfers that appearantly the people weren't getting, of if they received anything it was no where near the levels promised. Which if memory serves you assured me that Guardian Exports was handly." Duncan stated wanting to see what Stephens reaction to that was. He didn't know what information they had, but he felt safe in giving the master some information to see what he'd do with it.

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"Master," Unna quickly interjected after Duncan had finished speaking, "Of course this needn't be a situation where anyone is charged with any capital offense. Your forthrightness is appreciated and makes such matters easier. Now, if you'll please provide the documentations and surveillances I mentioned before, we can submit them for review by our own intelligence team and make sure no acts of treason have occurred." She smiled as she waited for a response.

Master Stephen reached forward and tapped the holodisk. The image changed to a list of intercepts and attacks carried out. While the list didn't show what the attacks were on, the list was compelling. "As you can see," he said speaking directly at Unna. "You can see that there is a communication between the Vengeance and the terrorist, which we presume is this leader called the General." He highlighted dates, times and duration of the communications, "there is a communication before the attack and one shortly after the attack."

He turned his attention to Duncan and made sure that the list reflected the most recent attack, "you accuse our security partners of not tending to the needs of these poor people." He pointed to the last attack which was carried out only hours ago. "A Guardian supply ship in route to a settlement was shot down by a band of terrorists. While our teams haven't reached the crash site yet, I find it very suspicious that only a few hours before the attack we observed this communication once more."

He leaned back in his chair and spoke very calmly, "before you start tossing out claims of crimes we should ensure that our house is clean. As it looks, your house has been linked with actively supporting terrorist activities on this world."

As far as Unna could tell, Master Stephan was being truthful. Unna used empathy to see how Master Stephen felt about Duncan's accusation, Unna got the following information: He is not angered. Though he does show signs of great concern over this situation. Using both empathy and [Unna's]sense motive. He truthfully believes that someone on the Vengeance is linked and or helping to this terrorist group. And because of this, he fears the stability on Fray is at risk.

"Master, I do see the correlation. Correlation, however, does not mean causation. I would like to take this information back with me to Lord Sembla to be further evaluated. Is it okay if I take these copies?"

[Duncan_Starchaser]

"Unna is correct, and I'd be a fool to not see such an obvious correlation. We will get to the bottom of this Master." Duncan said sounding more dipolmatic. He hoped it had gone as planned and Unna was able to derive some truth from it. "As to our staying for the next few days... that's a bit more problemmatic since we are a military vessel and we go where we're ordered."

Master Stephen nodded, "I truly hope that we all can get to the bottom of this." His comlink beep, "I am so sorry," He said in surprise. While his voice was genuine in its surprise, Unna knew that it was not the case. This seemed to be arranged. While it was harder for Duncan to detect, he too caught on to the fake surprised reaction. "One moment please," he said.

He turned and activated the comlink in voice only mode. "Yes?"

A voice that Unna and Duncan could barely hear spoke, "Sir, you asked to be notified once the strike group took off. They are enroute and will have a TOT in one hour. Our operative on the ground has confirmed twenty one tangos in the target area."

"Good," Master Stephen said in a hushed whisper. "Keep me informed on the situation as it develops."

"Yes, Master Jedi" the voice said then the link was closed.

He turned to face Unna and Duncan once more, "I am sorry. Guardian is moving to deal with the terrorists as we speak." He paused for a moment, "I am sure you will get to the bottom. And Yes of course you can have copies of what Guardian has intercepted."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"Master, I need a favor. Given the fact that there is evidence of treason on The Vengence, I request that all suspected terrorists be captured alive. One of them may hold information that will be vital to our investigation. This has become a Republic matter and we must interrogate the suspects if we are to get to the bottom of this. Can you relay this to Guardian? I am fairly positive that such interrogation efforts will force us to extend our stay here on Fray. I can't imagine what could be higher priority than investigations of treason."

[Duncan_Starchaser]

Duncan didn't say anything and just waited to see what Stephens would tell Unna.

Master Stephen frowned as a genuine sense of sadness crossed his face, "I am sure that there will be survivors. The team that is observing the attack will be able to round up the survivors. But I don't think I can ask Marshal Haze to change his plan of attack." There was a hint of concern and conflict over making such a request to Marshal Haze.

He pulled up the comlink, "Marshal Haze," he said speaking in to the link.

A blue image of Marshal Haze came to life, "yes Master Jedi?"

"Marshal Haze," Master Stephen said. "A good point has been brought up. As you suspected, there very well could be a traitor aboard the Vengeance. To find the traitor, Unna and Commander Duncan needs us to capture as many terrorists as possible."

"Foo....." Marshal Haze said with a hint of anger in his voice then paused. "I will relay to my men, the request. But I can not ensure the safety of the Terrorists." His voice was much more reserved this time.

Only Unna could tell that the Marshal had no intention of complying with the order.

Master Stephen smiled as he turned back to Unna and Duncan, "I am sure that he will do his best."

[Unna Hi Chaanu]

"I would hope so," Unna replied. She was less cheerful than she was when this conversation first started. She was now not even cracking a smile. "It would ultimately be advantageous for us all, as my interrogations of that many suspects would certainly prolong our stay here. However, as Duncan said, we are a military vessel and go where ordered."

Unna made no effort to hide her disappointment. "Is there anything else you wish to discuss? I do have a busy day ahead of me."
