The Life Day Dance was am annual celebration for all the Students and Cadets to just let their collective hair down. It was a day long event that began with games, and performances by the instructors and ended with breath taking fireworks.
And while early on, the parody put on by the Senior Staff has always been a crowd favorite. The old and normally humorous masters would put their hearts in to their skits and leave the student body laughing.
Lunch was always cooked and served by the instructors. And it was always fatty, delicious and hardly ever on the normal menu.
The dance has run by the students and Cadets, for their fellow classmates.
Sol found Astra in the crowd at the dance, "Astra...." he said rushing up to her. "There was a last minute change, my transport leaves in the morning," he said giving her a hug.

Astra blinked confused " What transport where are you going" she said confused. She did not want him to leave. She looked almost sad.

He laughed, "I love it when you are so cute. I told you last month, my family ordered me home the month before the 61 Gladius."

Astra looked more upset. " I don't want to go it's lonely with out you here" she said huging him back . She almost burst Into tears. " attest you get to participate in this one though" she said smiling at him.

He frowned, "I know. But its only for a month. I will see you on Anaxes at the upcoming Gladius."
He nodded, "My family has ensured that I have a slot this year. I finally have my shot"

Astra smiled " it would be wild if I could compete with you" she joked bursting into a fit of giggles. Shaking her head. Then as of remembering the last Gladius a dark expression crossed her face and she huged him tightly again.
" if anything happens to you ...I..." she trailed off. She hoped he know what she was thinking because she struggled still with the memorys if the trip home from the last Gladius.

He laughed with her, "that would be something else."
He joined her dark expression. He remembered what had happened to them on the way home from the last Gladius. He still had his own issues from it. But that was nothing to what happened to poor Roza.
After months of therapy the poor girl still suffers from nightmares. Sol had often wondered if something in her mind had broken due to what they were exposed to.
"Yeah," he said robbing the back of his head. "I never imagined that coolant leaks could be so dangerous."

Astra blinked " Coolant leak!" Astra said shocked did he not remember.
" Sol that ship was attacked by a monster you were thrown across the deck at me it killed one of the crew on are ship and the other kid on Roza's team don't you remember" she said a look of almost panic crossed her face. She could not forget those details. Nor could she forget the hunting conversation when she woke up after the fight. Who were those men?

He shook his head, "no Astra. There was no monster, it wasn't attacked. The Hyperspace Engine suffered a critical coolant leak. That is what killed everyone aboard."
He reached over to touch her shoulder, "we were effected by the leak. We were having hallucinations. Which is common with that type of leak."
Stilling holding her shoulder, "there was an inquiry. The Capitain was found liable for failing to conduct an atmosphere test prior to sending us on board."
"He was found guilty in a court of law for negligence that lead to those two deaths and what happened to poor Roza."
"Astra, there was no monster. It was just a coolant leak."

Astra just stared at him. " the body's of the people onboard they had been shot with sumthing and I woke up in a bacta tank the hooded man has been trying to prove it. Sol listen to me please" Astra said.
She could not beleave this how could they say the events were halutinatons and why did Sol beleave them. " Sol it was real they are lieing sumthing attacked that ship and its still out there. " She said.

"Astra," he said moving closer. "Think about this, a human with skin that turns off lightsabers."
He looked at her with soft eyes, "nothing has that ability." He looked down, "sure for a few weeks, I believed the hallucinations. But that was before the medical reports showed that we were exposed to the chemicals."
"Astra, what is more likely," he asked her softly.

Astra shook her head. " it was not a holutinatiom Sol and what ever that thing was it was not alive I think it was a Droid of some kind" she said. She looked at him then to the dance. " Let's just agree not to agree on this. It's your last night here befor you leave let dace or sumthing " she said trying to change the subject for fear that Sol would panic and drag her to the healers or sumthing.

He frowned, "yeah, I am sorry."
He pulled her attention back to him, "Astra," he said as he hands her a long box.
"It belonged to my mother," he said motioning to the bracelet.

Astra blinks confused turning her head sideways. " it's pretty, I bet your excited to see her again right?" She asked as she handed the box and bracelet back. Not at all understanding what he is doing. Not that she did not understand the concept she just failed to pick up on it like the silly girl she is.

He frowned, "my mother was killed five years ago. Her ship was attacked by pirates." He looked at the bracelet, "that is all I have of her." He put a nervous smile on his face, "I wanted you to have it."

Astra blinked and pulled Sol into a hug. "I'm so sorry I did not know, this is such an impotent bracelet you should keep it close to you... i apresheate the thought i do...I just ummm" she trailed off. she did not want to hurt him but she also was unsure about excepting something there means so much to Sol.

He smiled, "I am going to keep it close to me." He took it out of the small box and placed it around her wrist. "Astra, you have been the best of friends I have."
He smiled as he looked in to her eyes. He wanted to say more, but he dared not. "Now let's go get that dance." He laughed pulling her with him towards the dance floor.

Astra just stared for a moment not knowing how to respond other the silently promising not to take the bracelet off. " Your my best friend and i only have two friends" She said with a smile.
she let him lead her to the dance floor to dance. " Promise me you will come back safe"she said as they danced.

The song slowed and pulled her in close. "I promise," he said softly as he danced with her.
"Promise me, you will never stop believing," he said softly.

He smiled as he held her close. He wanted to give her the world, yet he knew he couldn't. So for tonight, he would make sure that she felt like she was his world. They would dance, laugh and be rich with their friendship. Though deep in his heart, he knew that there was more.

Astra had fun she enjoyed dancing, talking and laughing with Sol. When they finly did head to ther preventive Baracks for the evening. There was an feeling of bitter sweetness to ther final goodbye. Even though it was only a month. For Astra that was a long time.
As she headed back to her room that night she could not help but feel there might be something else sumthing much more important between then.
