CNN News Special Report: Lo'Uran Under siege!
CNN News Special Report: Lo'Uran Under siege!
Coruscant News Network
Broadcast from Coruscant
Date: 2920 AOK (Four Months before Chancellor Syrdash’s End of Term)

Bail: “Good evening to all the citizens of the Galactic Republic. I am Bail Organa.”

Sinya: “And I am Sinya Lefe. We interrupt your regular schedule to bring you the latest regarding the events occurring the Capital City of Phtarkiee, on the Outer Rim World of Lo’Uran. Home to a peaceful people called the F'Tame.”

Bail: “What we have to bring you, is so damning that its shockwaves have yet to be felt here in the Core Worlds. There has never been any doubt that the Jedi have mishandled their growing crisis in the Outer Rim. We can no longer hold the Olivan Jedi, or Rogue Jedi as the victims in this situation.”

Sinya: “A large group of peaceful protestors have marched on the Jedi Temple on Lo’Uran. The Temple is located on the outskirts of Phtarkiee, and was supposed to be protected by the Lo’Uran government.”

Bail: “While the initial reports claim that the protestors were peaceful. These peaceful individuals rushed the Temple, over powered the Temple Guards, and seized the first two floors of the Temple. Nearly two hundred Jedi, Padawans, and support personal were forced in to the upper levels of the temple. Rumors indicate that the Grand Council has yet to make any action in response to this latest crisis.”

Sinya: *while glancing at Bail* “While the speculations fly regarding this latest situation on Lo’Uran. *Turns back to the cameras* What is known for sure is that this situation comes right after a recent heated election, where the incumbent Planetary Governor was unseated from office. Recently elected Cirra stated in her first official speech that Lo’Uran could no longer provide protection to the Jedi Temple.”

Bail: “A bit of a backstory here to help you make sense of these events. For thousands of years, the Jedi have protected the people of Lo’Uran. Whom might I add, offers pretty songs and colorful trinkets to the Republic. For thousands of years, the Jedi have faithful protected these people. And while many of you know, I am no fan of the Jedi, this kind of betrayal just proves the point that these people simply can’t be trusted.”

Sinya: “There is actually more to that story Bail. It was the events of Olivan that sowed these seeds. During the Jedi’s operation on Olivan, the Temple on Lo’Uran was used as a staging area for supplies and personal heading to Olivan. This caused a worldwide outcry from the F'Tame. At first the protests around the Temple were completely peaceful….”

Bail: “Peaceful in terms of showing your disloyalty to Republic while supporting beheading terrorists.”

Sinya: “There were more than a few incidents where the protests became violent. Each of these incidents were linked to off-worlders, all of whom were arrested by the local government. It was due to these off-worlders, that the Jedi and Lo’Uran government worked out a deal that Lo’Uran would deploy its own civil defense force to keep the protestors at distance from the Temple. While the violence was reduced, public opinion continued to shift from the local government.

Bail: “For months, Cirra claimed that the Jedi were war mongering and that they would only bring war to Lo’Uran. It must be mentioned that this Cirra is one of those gullible people that bought in to the whole Heaven thing.....”

Sinya: “A movement that has been growing across the Outer Rim. Lo’Uran is only one of many worlds that has seen its citizens joining this religious group.”

Bail: “Religious group….more like a band of opportunist and con-artists.” *Momentary Pause* “After her landslide victory, Cirra ordered Lo’Uran’s civil defense force away from the Jedi Temple and in a fiery speech, stopped short of ordering the Jedi off world.”

Sinya: “But she didn’t order them off world. In fact, Governor Cirra asked the Jedi to stop carrying out actions that went against the philosophies of her people.”

Bail: “Yes, the actions that were attempting to keep her people safe. And let it be known that these are the same people that have stormed the Jedi Temple and have forced those living within to hide for their very lives. I can’t imagine what those Jedi are having to endure as we speak. If Olivan is any measure of these Worshipers of Heaven or whatever they are calling themselves today, then my heart goes out to these Jedi.”

Sinya: “Bail, I am glad that you have brought up the plight of the Jedi on Lo’Uran and how their temple was overrun by hordes of protestors. It is lucky for us, that we have a short video of how the temple was stormed.”

Bail: *looking confused* “We have footage of that?”

Sinya: “Yes. Before the accident in our control room took place, I copied the footage that was sent to us by a source on world.” *with a smile she pulls out a holoplayer* “Please forget the quality, but..” she said turning it on. “As you see, a group of five F’Tame holding only candles advanced on the Temple Guards and a handful of Jedi. A growing group of protesters started to follow this group of five. You can hear them singling as they refused to obey orders to stop. Here, you can see the Jedi and their Guards started to move backwards. If you listen close enough to their song, you can hear that they are singing something about a baby sent from Heaven.”

Sinya: “It was clear that their motivation was driven by the Worshipers of Heaven. As this group of five continued to advance on the Temple, the crowds continued to grow behind them. Despite having their lightsabers activated, the Jedi continued to withdraw back towards the Temple. At this point, the Temple Guards were ordered back in to the Temple by this Jedi, though his name remains a mystery at this time, it is thanks to this person that this situation didn’t end on bloodshed.”

Sinya: “Now we don’t know why the Temple wasn’t sealed. Maybe there wasn’t time, maybe there was a malfunction in the main doors. What we do know is that these five continued to advance singing their song and holding their candles. Notice the large crowd behind them. Our estimates place this crowd around four to five hundred strong. We believe that this crowd centered on this group from other parts of the Temple. There is nothing that suggests at this time, that this was a planned operation. Now, as we watch them enter the Temple, we can hear their song come to an end and they sing a more upbeat, maybe victorious song.”

Sinya: “While we don’t have any footage of what happened within the temple, what we can suspect is that the Jedi continued to withdraw from the lower levels rather than create a violent situation. As you can see, neither side demonstrated any measure of violence. While I too have been overly critical of the Jedi, I have to give credit to the remarkable show of control during this situation. My own sources in the Outer Rim, reported to me just before I came on air that those F'Tame occupying the Temple had a message for the Jedi.”

Sinya: “The message is as follows, ‘We will advance no further in to the Jedi Temple. Their philosophies no longer match our own. We have found truth, and expect that this be respected. We respectfully ask the Jedi to leave our world.’ Shortly after this story broke, the Government of Lo’Uran announced to the Republic Senate, their intention to leave the Republic.”

Sinya: *With a bold smile she turned to Bail* “Bail? Would you like to add anything?”

Bail: “um….no…..we will keep our viewers updated as this situation continues to develop………”

(OOC: To hear their song, please check this out. While this is their song, remember that F'Tame are fair of skin. They have silver hair with hints of blue. The most notable feature is the two crystal like growths above their eyes.)

To have a better image of the F'Tame, here is where I got the inspiration for their appearance.
