Cabal Meeting

Kira set in the kitchen with a half-eaten sandwich before her. Even though she was sitting here in the kitchen, her mind was miles away. Her plans with the werewolves went pretty much as she had expected. What surprised her was how the rest of the cabal had taken to Rebecca’s actions. She picked up her fork and pushed pieces of her sandwich around with it.

Rebecca was actually easy to understand and even easier to predict. She had never really shown any skill in dealing with social situations. It was the reason why Kira had been the voice and most of the time, the face of the show. She was a bit confused why Richard had chosen Rebecca to take the cunning part of the test. Rebecca was more the power fighter of the group. Kira smiled as the voice of some actor filled her mind, ‘Hulk smash’. Shaking off the memory, Kira just figured that Richard had a larger plan he was working on. Despite Rebecca’s mistake, the encounter with the werewolves was overly successful. And even thanks to Rebecca’s mistake, the Cabal had a chance to really bond with their new werewolf allies. She paused for a moment and came to a conclusion that Richard was far more manipulative than she gave him credit for.

By forcing Rebecca in to a situation that was far beyond her social skill, he must have known that she would mess it up. But she wouldn’t over all let the cabal down. In doing so, this would drag out the encounter allowing him and Simon to warm up to the werewolves. It was clear that both Simon and Richard were far better in social situations than Rebecca was. By removing her from the encounter the way Richard did, he ensured that the encounter would be successful.

Kira smiled and mumbled to herself, “Richard, you are one cunning man.” She lifted her head as she heard someone walking in to the kitchen. It was Richard with a determined look on his face. There was something different about him. He seemed more sure of himself. She couldn’t be sure but she wondered if he had used a spell to increase his resolve or had their run in with the werewolves actually inspired him. “Time for our meeting,” Kira said softly.
