RE: Chapter One: Deep Space Music
Alan drifts into the Dropship mechbay, floating towards the stall where his Battlemaster stood. The eighty five ton 'mech towered over the other occupants of the bay. Alan floated up the back of the mech, checking each of the clamps and couplings. The last thing anyone needed was for his machine to come loose in flight. He'd already checked the couplings repeatedly, but the process had become ritual for him during the long uneventful months aboard the ship.
He pulls himself down the front of his 'Mech and opens the cockpit pulling himself inside. It was unusually cramped compared to most Battlemasters, but the smaller cockpit did wonders for optimizing the 'Mech. He ran his fingers over the familiar controls, the computers whirring as they run diagnostics. He flipped through the various systems making sure everything was in orders. Weapons, targeting, heat management, life support, so on and so forth. Satisfied that everything was still in working order he opened the hatch on the cockpit
