Chapter One: Deep Space Music

Alice nodded as she spoke, "I understand." She reached over and opened up her laptop, "Lyona, I was wondering if you could help me with something." she moved the pointer to a audio file and got it ready to play. "I was taking readings and samples this morning and I can't make out what is wrong." she played the file. The sound was strange to everyone. There was loud high pitched groaning sounds that sounded almost like the sounds of metal being bent and twisted. There were other sounds woven in to the chaotic mesh of sounds.

"I have never heard anything like this before. At first I thought maybe our equipment was malfunctioning, but after three hours I can't find anything wrong with them. I thought maybe its an echo. thirty years ago a Comstar Explorer Corps ship disappeared from this system. But the distortion of the sound waves are like nothing I have ever heard of before." she pulled a USB drive and handed it over, "do you mind taking a look at it?"
