RE: Unified, The Cabal Stands (Richard and Rebecca)
Even beyond that painful experiment, Rebecca could still feel the cold touch of the Abyss upon her soul. To her surprise the experiment was much more than she had expected. She had set out to learn how to keep the Abyss from tainting her spells during casting. What she ended up learning was much more. As she moved through her steady slow movements, she fought to regain control of her body. Her muscles trembled and her body still shook like after shocks washing over her. In hindsight, Rebecca questioned the wisdom of willfully tempting the Abyss in such a way. Still it was necessary for her so that she could learn some pretty valuable information.

First and foremost, she learned that the more powerful more pronounced spells will attract the Abyss. For this, there was little or no doubt in Rebecca's mind about this now. Next, she now knew that she could use her own magical will to limit effects of the Abyss upon the magic that she creates. And lastly she learned that while she can use her body to act as a filter against the Abyss, it is not as effective as using her own magical will. And more importantly was painful to do so. However with all that she learned, she was forced to face another question. Could she use both methods at the same time to protect her spells from the Abyss during critical moments of battle.

With her mind clear and deeply focused on the sounds around her, sheheard Richard coming up behind her. It wasn't due to any special powers or anything. It was just the way he stumped his way through the wilderness. She knew that he hated it out here. She felt sorry that he was forced to live out here. The draw of the city could be so strong. During her first week out here, she missed the city. But being a country girl from birth, she quickly over came it. Still, she felt bad for Richard.

She didn't address him right away allowing him a chance to speak first. She figured that they had bickered enough over who's in charge. She often wounded why he didn't take a stronger role in leadership within the Cabal. But then his age came to mind and she dismissed the thought. With her back towards him, she heard his statement and frowned at the bitch comment. However she didn't dwell on it like she would have before. She allowed his comment roll off her back as she continued to move through her steps. Still, it did bothered her to be referred to like that. She didn't consider herself to be mean or spiteful. Or at least she didn't try to be that way. Maybe she was just over thinking his statement and didn't give it any more thoughts.

She gave a nod and said softly, "Thank you." Her reply was more in the form of a question than as a statement. "I actually have a large tattoo on my back," she said referring to the tattoo that took up most of her back. The image was drawn by her. Designed to be two mirrored images with one of color and one that was black and white. She moved slowly and raised the back of her shirt exposing the large unmistakable tattoo.

"It was during a time in my life when I wasn't sure who I was any more. A time of great confusion and self doubt." She really didn't want to say as much as she did. But figured the two of them had plenty of bridges to mend. She could have had the Tattoo removed as her father had demanded. But instead she kept it. Not out of rebellion against her father, but more out of respect for what she had gone through. A symbol of her survival so to speak. When she told her father about her desires to keep it, it triggered one of their most heated fights. The fight lasted for months as her father attempted to force his will upon her. It was the only time she ever really stood up to him. While she was allowed to keep the tattoo, her punishment so to speak was being sent here to Colorado.

She completed her slow movement as she righted her body and lowered her shirt once more.

(OOC: If you haven't already seen it or some how Richard missed it. Check my profile near the bottom for the image of her Tattoo)
